As a UK based travel blog editor I did some research into Mastercard prepaid debit cards as paying for your Ryanair flight with these cards is the only way to avoid paying the £5 per person per flight admin fee levied by Ryanair Saw this linked from Life Hacker, and thought, "What a great idea! Probably wouldn't do this either, for the reasons mentioned.



I still would carry some other cards in a really secure place as backup, but this would stop-loss you in case of theft or fraud.
Basics: If you are in the UK, check out the Fair FX Currency Card, which provides US Dollars or Euros and boasts favorable currency exchange rates.
Overall, I don't use — or plan to use — prepaid travel cards, for a few reasons.
